BUSINESS TRAININING

As part of our business support package, we subsidize the cost of online CPD accredited training. The training is available to all member businesses and their staff.

The programme is particularly aimed at the city’s hospitality sector and includes a number of key courses that are a mandatory requirement for some businesses and may be enforced by your respective departments. There are also other more general courses on offer and you can view the full list below.

We also promote training delivered by our partner organisations and signpost businesses to available training funding and are able to offer advice and support where specific training is required.

AVAILABLE ONLINE TRAINING COURSES

It is a legal requirement under Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 that all staff who sell or serve alcohol must undertake a minimum of 2 hours licensing training.

 

The course will provide an understanding of the Law and the responsibilites of anyone who serves or sells alcohol. It covers the effects of alcohol on health and society, as well as key people skills for working in licensed premises.

 

Go Forth Stirling is the first BID in the country to provide this mandatory training to all hospitality premises in our district free of charge.

 

Our Allergy Awareness Level 2 course was created to cover the legal requirement for certain regulated food allergens that came into force on 13th December 2014.


This covers how the law on allergens has changed, as well as managing the threat of food allergens in your workplace. In November 2019, this course was further updated to incorporate details regarding Natasha’s Law.


Upon completion of the course, you shall be able to provide the necessary information to customers regarding the regulated allergens in your food and ensure these are appropriately managed within your food business.


Course Length

The Allergen Awareness course consists of 7 levels, which means that we estimate the course to take approximately 2 hours. Once enrolled, you will then have 30 days to complete the course. You can dip in and out of the course to suit your time, as long as you complete it within the 30 days from enrolment.

The Level 1 Introduction to Food Safety in Catering course is designed to provide a solid understanding of the basic principles of food safety in a catering environment. It aims to ensure that food products sold by the food business operator are safe for consumers.

This course consists of 9 levels and is estimated to take approximately 2-3 hours to complete. Once enrolled, you will have 30 days to finish the course. You can access the training at your convenience within the 30-day timeframe.

The Level 2 Food Safety in Catering Course is specifically designed to meet the legal requirements for food business operators to provide appropriate training to their food handlers. It replaces the former Basic Food Hygiene course and focuses on the basics of hygienic food handling.


Upon completion of this course, you will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to work in a food-related environment and maintain hygienic food production practices.

This course consists of 12 levels and is estimated to take approximately 3-4 hours to complete. Once enrolled, you will have 30 days to finish the course. You can access the training at your convenience within the 30-day timeframe.

Certificate Length:

Based on best codes of practice for food hygiene certificate renewals, you will be issued with a CPD accredited 3-year certificate.

This course provides an overview of the main legal requirements to report and keep records of certain work-related accidents, occupational diseases, and incidents known as dangerous occurrences. This is required under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR). There are separate regulations covering Northern Ireland.


Upon completion of the course, you shall be able to:

  • Explain the purpose of RIDDOR
  • Give examples of injuries, diseases, and dangerous occurrences that are reportable under RIDDOR
  • State the legal responsibilities that employers, self-employed workers, and people in control of work premises have under RIDDOR

Certificate Length:

Based on industry guidance, you will be issued with a 3-year certificate.

Offices are considered to be low-risk environments. However, there are common hazards in an office that can lead to accidents or ill health. In this short Health and Safety in Reception course, we will look at these hazards and how they are controlled.


Course Length:

The course consists of 5 levels, which we estimate to take approximately 2 hours to complete.

Once enrolled, you will then have 30 days to complete the course. You can dip in and out of the training to suit your time allowance, however, this must be within the 30 days from the date of enrollment.

The course covers a variety of essential topics. It aims to ensure that all employees are aware of their own health and safety and the safety of others such as members of the public, customers, and contractors. Course Length:

The Level 2 Certificate in HACCP for Caterers Course explains the requirement for a food business to have up-to-date food safety management procedures based on HACCP principles in place. It provides an understanding of what HACCP is, how to develop a HACCP plan based on the seven principles of HACCP, and why implementing HACCP-based food safety management procedures is crucial for producing safe food.


Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:

This short course on calorie labelling aims to provide information about the calorie labelling requirements that come into force in England from 6th April 2022.


These requirements are contained in the Calorie Labelling (Out of Home Sector) (England) Regulations 2021 and apply to certain types of food and food businesses.

You will be issued with a 1-year Navitas Safety certificate.

The purpose of this course is to raise your awareness of the dangers associated with Legionella and methods of control. It helps raise awareness of how dangerous Legionella can be and how to recognize signs and symptoms within your employees, staff, and guests and how Legionella can be prevented.

This course consists of 3 levels and takes approximately 1 hour to complete. Once enrolled, you will have 30 days to complete the course. You can dip in and out of the training to suit your time allowance, as long as it is within the 30-day period from the date of enrolment.

The course is an introduction to Safeguarding, suitable for anyone that works with, or comes into contact with children. You do not need prior Safeguarding training to take this course. You may wish to complete this training if you work in an education setting, such as teaching, school caterers, activity leader, or volunteer.


Next Progression

This is a stand-alone course on Safeguarding Children; however, depending on your role, you may wish to take our Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults course.


Certificate Length

At the end of the course, you will be required to take a short multiple-choice test. You must pass with a pass mark of 80% or above to be awarded your certificate. Based on industry best practice, the recommended renewal period for Safeguarding is 3 years, which is printed on your certificate.
