BID Runs Free Online Training Courses for Business Community

Courses aimed at safeguarding children and vulnerable adults are among the range of options offered on Go Forth Stirling BID’s free online training platform.

The programme was launched by the BID three years ago to support Stirling’s business community by covering the costs of key training courses for staff. Since its inception, the platform has hosted 821 students and a total of 2391 courses have been completed.

More than 200 people have enrolled on the Safeguarding Children course which guides participants through the basic principles which should be followed to safeguard children – including actions to take if they have concerns about an individual.

The programme’s content deals with how to set up and follow good safeguarding policies and procedures and includes What is Meant by Safeguarding?; Responding to a Child’s Disclosure of Abuse; Making Policy and Safeguarding Issues.

The course is suitable for anyone who works with or comes into contact with children and can be complemented with the Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults certificate which covers standards aimed at ensuring those considered to be at more risk that others live free from harms caused by neglect or abuse.

Topics include What is Safeguarding?; They Say – Vulnerable Adults; What Do I Need to Do and a case study. Danielle McRorie-Smith, Project Director at Go Forth Stirling, said: “We really do have a wide and interesting range of subjects covered by our online training courses and there will be something there which is useful for every business and organisation in the BID zone.

The training platform has been an enormous success in terms of enrolments and courses completed since it started, but I am always keen to encourage more businesses to take advantage of it. This is a free service for BID levy payers and the platform delivers all the CPD- accredited courses business owners and their staff need via a flexible programme.

The diverse range of options include Managing Food Safety; Workplace Health & Safety; Mental Health Awareness; GDPR; Calorie Labelling; Fire Safety and Allergen Awareness.

The platform also covers the Alcohol Licensing Awareness (Scotland) training course which is mandatory for all staff involved in serving or selling alcohol and which can prove expensive for business owners to provide themselves.

Details of the courses and how to access them are available on the Go Forth Stirling website – www.goforthstirling.co.uk/online-training
