WHAT IS A BID

The BIDs model is designed to help local businesses to improve their communities.

Go Forth Stirling is a registered limited company that manages Stirling Business Improvement District (BID).

A Business Improvement District (BID) is a defined area in which businesses work together to invest in local improvements.

BIDs operate for up to five years and are developed, managed and paid for by businesses through a compulsory BID charge called the BID levy.

If the businesses that are part of BIDs want the BID to continue once the five years are up, another vote must take place.

BIDs can only exist if they get support from a clear majority of local businesses in a vote.

There is no limit on what projects or services can be provided through a BID, as long as they are an addition to services provided by local authorities.

The projects and services are outlined in our Business Plan.

BID levy is used to develop projects to benefit businesses, residents & visitors in the local area.

Our projects are delivered by a small team of staff who report to the Board of Directors.

The Board is made up of representatives & owners of businesses & organisations located within the BID. Representatives from levy-paying and non-levy paying businesses can be appointed to the Board.
