Go Forth Relaunches Grants to Revitalise Stirling Shopfronts

Stirling’s shopfronts are set for a facelift after the city’s Business Improvement District (BID) relaunched its popular grant funding scheme.

City centre business owners who want to revitalise their shop entrances can apply to Go Forth Stirling BID for a match-funded grant of up to £500. The shopfront improvement initiative aims to give the city’s environment a boost and enhance Stirling’s overall appearance. It is the latest in a series of grants aimed at helping business owners, who are BID members or voluntary levy payers, increase footfall and attract more customers.

The shopfront fund can be used for a variety of exterior improvements such as installing planters or hanging baskets, sprucing up paintwork or
replacing signage. Danielle McRorie-Smith, Project Director at Go Forth Stirling, said: “We’re relaunching our Shopfront Improvement Grant and hope to see lots of businesses apply for funding so we can help spruce up the city centre over the coming months.

Upgrading shopfronts is a major investment in the city and a valuable way for us to support business owners and make a real positive impact
on Stirling’s environment.
High-quality shopfronts make a city feel more welcoming to locals and visitors alike, contribute to a stronger sense of identity and encourage a greater number of visits.

She added: “We’re particularly keen to hear from Stirling traders whose shopfronts need urgent repairs or improvements, such as missing signage letters, chipped paint, fascia which is in disrepair and so on, which would have an immediate positive impact on their entire surroundings.”

The shopfront improvement grant offers 50% matched funding – up to a limit of £500 – and more details and an application form are available on
the Go Forth website via www.goforthstirling.co.uk/business-grants/

All levy-paying businesses and voluntary levy-payers located within the Go Forth Stirling BID zone are eligible to apply for the fund. Previous recipients of the BID’s various shopfront grant schemes include Jeff Buchan Hair & Beauty, Greek family restaurant Cafe Aina, the Fone Express store in Upper Craigs and the historic Golden Lion Hotel.

Go Forth Stirling BID represents more than 600 business owners with a key objective of increasing visitors to the city and devising initiatives to
help make it a more welcoming environment for businesses and shoppers.
