Stirling District Tourism Working in Partnership with the Church of the Holy Rude

Stirling District Tourism (SDT), the charity that operates and manages Legends, is delighted to announce a partnership with the Church of the Holy Rude which will see both organisations working together to secure the future of this stunning historic building.

SDT plans to develop a creative programme of cultural initiatives including the development of exhibitions and a new website designed to bring the Church’s rich past to life and showcase its stunning architecture, building on the excellent work of the Church and their team of dedicated volunteers.

The Church will be open to visitors with longer hours than previously – 9 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (with the exception of Sunday morning service) and for the first time the Church will be open to visitors throughout late Autumn.

Bookings will currently be taken by e-mail –  The website is currently being developed and this will include an online booking system.  There is a holding web page with some initial information at

Visitors can also choose to walk in and pay on arrival.  Admission tickets will be £5 pp and this will include Guided Introductions every half hour to bring to life the fascinating stories which highlight how special the Church is for Scotland.  Groups and individuals who would prefer to explore without the guided introduction are welcome to do so.

A fantastic new exhibition is being developed and will be part of the experience from early summer.  In addition, a new retail offering will give visitors the opportunity to purchase a quality memento of their visit to the Church of the Holy Rude. Many of the gifts are made locally and the selection will develop as the season continues with a range of price points to suit everyone.

The new calendar of non-religious events will be rolled out from 01 May 2023 complementing the fixed programme of religious observances and annually recurring events at the Church.  All visitor income in the first year will be reinvested into the conservation and modernisation of the Church and to create an inspiring visitor and event space.

SDT very much look forward to working with the team at the Church of the Holy Rude , sharing the new website with you shortly and hopefully welcoming you to the Church at some point soon.
