Voting Underway In Go Forth Stirling’s Business Awards

More than 11,000 votes have been cast for nominees shortlisted in Stirling’s inaugural Business Awards – with one week to go until voting closes.

There have been 11,546 votes so far for the city centre businesses selected in the various awards categories with voting due to end next Monday January 23. Three businesses will then be shortlisted for each of the ten prestigious honours.

The winners of the Stirling Business Awards 2023, run by Go Forth Stirling, will be announced during a black-tie ceremony at Stirling’s Golden Lion Hotel on Thursday February 23. The event will be headlined by Celtic rock band Red Hot Chilli Pipers and hosted by Central FM and tickets are available to purchase via https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/489323589027

Danielle McRorie-Smith is Project Director of Go Forth Stirling, the city’s Business Improvement District (BID), which launched the awards to recognise and reward the city’s independent business owners. She said: “The fantastic response to the business awards demonstrates the support for the city’s business owners amongst the public as we start the new year and we’re very much looking forward to the ceremony next month.

We’re delighted to provide this opportunity to celebrate Stirling’s entrepreneurial business owners and the city’s unique and flourishing independent scene. We have a wide range of awards categories which reflect the diversity of the businesses we are lucky enough to have in Stirling and which set us apart from many other cities.

With one week left to vote, we hope the public will continue to get involved by voting for their favourite shop, pub, restaurant, hair & beauty salon, visitor attraction and other independent businesses in each award category.

There are ten awards categories including Charity of the Year, Unique Retailer of the Year and Pub/Bar of the Year and voting is open now at www.independentstirling.co.uk/awards

Award sponsors include the Thistles, Retailers Against Crime (RAC), Castle Leisure Group, Fusion Group, the University of Stirling Management School, business support organisation STEP Scotland and chartered surveyors Graham + Sibbald.

Go Forth Stirling are seeking further sponsors from the city’s business community and details about sponsorship packages can be found here – www.goforthstirling.co.uk/business-awards

The awards categories also feature Visitor Attraction of the Year with the Smith Art Gallery & Museum, Stirling Old Town Jail, the Engine Shed and the Albert Halls among the 12 initial finalists. Meanwhile, those shortlisted for the Outstanding Contribution to the City Award include ‘safe haven’ Safebase, Transition Stirling, Europa Music for Record Store Day and Codebase.

Among the organisations nominated for Professional Services Business of the Year are Brooklyn Kitchens, Nevermore Tattoo, CR Cycle Repair and Computer Division. Further award categories are Café of the Year, Retailer of the Year, Hair & Beauty Business of the Year and Restaurant of the Year.

The business awards, which will become an annual event, are Go Forth’s latest initiative to highlight and showcase the city’s diverse range of independent traders. They follow the launch of bespoke website Independent Stirling which promotes independent traders and encourages people to shop local.

Go Forth Stirling is the city’s BID representing more than 600 business owners with a key objective of increasing visitors to the city and devising initiatives to help make it a more welcoming destination for businesses and shoppers.
