Christmas Lights Switch On – Saturday 19 November

A full day of festive family fun is planned for the city centre on Saturday November 19, where pipe bands, dancers and panto performers will entertain visitors, while Santa Claus himself will be there to get pictures with the kids.

The parade will precede the switch-on of Stirling’s new and improved Christmas lighting, which has received a major overhaul thanks to a combined investment of over £105,000 from Stirling Council and Go Forth Stirling BID.
The outline of the parade can be viewer here.
The parade goers are encouraged to register via Eventbrite.

Celebrating Your Businesses- Business Awards

We’re thrilled to launch a new awards scheme which give us the opportunity to celebrate Stirling’s wealth of independent business owners. We’re lucky to have such a variety of unique shops, bars, restaurants, hairdressers, attractions and other independent businesses on our doorstep and we want to highlight what a fantastic asset they are to the city.

There are a total of ten categories for nominations including Café of The Year, Visitor Attraction of the Year, Hair & Beauty Business of the Year, Charity of the Year and a special award for Outstanding Contribution to the City.

Nominees must be independent businesses which are based within the city centre BID zone or voluntary levy payers.
Nominations can be submitted via independentstirling.co.uk/awards
To encourage your customers to nominate your business, we prepared this folder with social media posts that you can share on your channels and we will also bring posters and information cards for display.
Once all the nominations are in, local people and business owners will have the opportunity to vote for category winners from a shortlist of finalists.
We’re also looking for sponsors who are keen to demonstrate their commitment to Stirling’s business community by backing the awards. Anyone interested in finding out more about sponsorship opportunities should contact admin@goforthstirling.co.uk

Review of Taxi Provision in Stirling

Stirling Council has launched a public consultation to review taxi and private hire provision across the area. We believe that Stirling currently faces a lack of taxi providers which impacts on people’s deicision to come to our City and this review is a welcome move.

Footfall Counters

We have launched a data analysis and intelligence gathering scheme which will help the city’s businesses plan for the future.

We secured £18K of grant funding towards a £50K initiative to install footfall counters in key city streets. The move allows us to monitor traffic figures and pedestrian footfall providing data on when the city is at its busiest and what kind of events and projects are bringing visitors into Stirling.
Such insight is vital in understanding trends and changes impacting the city centre as businesses recover from two difficult years of trading.
Danielle McRorie-Smith, Project Director at Go Forth Stirling, said: “We want to collect data which we can analyse and share with businesses and use to encourage inward investment for Stirling. The footfall counters enable us to find out at what times and what days the city is busy, where most people are going and if there are specific events or projects which are drawing visitors in.
