Go Forth Stirling Backs Local Volunteers

The team at Go Forth Stirling was delighted to sponsor the recent Inspire Volunteer Awards run by Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise (SVE).

The annual honours recognise and reward Stirling’s scores of volunteers who dedicate their time to helping others in the community.

Go Forth Stirling sponsored the Volunteering for Strong Organisations Award which vice-chair David Black was delighted to present to the winning team from Camphill Blair Drummond Board of Trustees.

He said: “The event showed the huge variety of ways in which people come together to make a difference and it was amazing to learn that 40% of people in this area do some form of volunteering.  

“This is just one reason why Stirling is a great place to live and a great community to be part of.

“Volunteering is about building a team to work together and support each other to the benefit of others.  

“The Board of Go Forth Stirling are volunteers who share a passion for Stirling and want to make the city centre a more attractive, safer and vibrant place.

“With all this in mind, we were delighted to sponsor the award for Strong Organisations and all three of the nominees for the honour were diverse and deserving.

“It was a wonderful evening and I was delighted to present the award to the volunteers from Camphill Blair Drummond Board of Trustees.”

SVE Chief Executive Natalie Masterson welcomed Go Forth Stirling’s backing for the Inspire Awards.

She said: “SVE are grateful for the support of Go Forth in sponsoring the Volunteering for Strong Organisations Award, which recognised the volunteering commitment of leading and governing organisations. 

“Go Forth Stirling and SVE share the same vision of Stirling as a place where everyone can thrive, and this vision needs strong voluntary organisations, successful business and a demonstrable community spirit.

More than 120 people attended the Awards ceremony, hosted by SVE in partnership with Stirling Council, on Tuesday September 3 at Stirling’s Hotel Colessio.

They were various awards categories and the winners included teams from Mayfield Centre Recovery Café and Food Train Stirling.

The Volunteering for Strong Organisations Award, sponsored by Go Forth Stirling, went to Camphill Blair Drummond Board of Trustees.

The other shortlisted teams were Forth Valley Welcome and Forth Valley Student Association.

More than 300 people live, work and volunteer in Camphill Blair Drummond’s unique setting which provides a home to adults with severe learning disabilities. 

The organisation’s volunteer Board of Directors were recognised for their good governance and leadership.

Board Member Robert Brown said: “I’ve been on the board for more than 10 years now and I think we have the strongest board we’ve ever had. 

“But it is not just about the board, it is about the whole community we’ve got there – the residents, the staff and volunteers. 

“It’s an incredible place, everybody is upbeat, friendly and cheerful. Camphill really does provide state of the art care.”
